Dress Code

 

Dress for Officers, Staff Commodores, and Delegates at PICYA Functions

  Winter Uniform Dates:  October 1 to the day before Opening Day on the Bay (last Saturday in April)

 Summer Uniform Dates:  Opening Day on the Bay to September 30

Men’s Winter Uniform

  • Navy blue blazer, gray trousers, black shoes, black socks, white shirt with tie or white turtleneck
  • Blazer emblem with club’s burgee may be worn on the left breast pocket
  •  Name tag is to be worn on the right blazer lapel
 
Men’s Summer Uniform
  • Navy blue blazer, white trousers or white dress shorts, white shoes, white socks, white shirt with tie or white turtleneck
 
Men’s Summer Whites
  • White trousers or white dress shorts, white shoes, white socks, short sleeved white shirt with epaulettes for shoulder boards, no tie
 
Ladies’ Winter Uniform
  •  Navy blue blazer, gray skirt or slacks, black shoes with appropriate hose, if worn, white blouse with lady’s tie or white turtleneck
  •  Blazer emblem with club’s burgee may be worn on the left breast pocket
  •  Name tag is to be worn on the right blazer lapel
 
Ladies’ Summer Uniform
  • Navy blue blazer, white skirt, white slacks or white dress shorts, white shoes with appropriate hose, if worn, white blouse or shirt with lady’s tie or white turtleneck
 
Ladies’ Summer Whites
  • White skirt or white slacks or white dress shorts, white shoes with appropriate hose, if worn, short sleeved white shirt with epaulettes for shoulder board, no tie
 
Delegates
 
The recommended dress for delegates is the same as for the officers.
 
The PICYA Commodore may suggest a special dress for the delegates’ meeting prior to the Opening Day on the Bay and the Wheelchair Regatta.


 
Dress for the PICYA Change of Watch Dinner/Dance
 
Men’s Dress
  • Black Tie affair
  • Black tux is the preferred choice; however, the PICYA’s winter dress uniform or a business suit is also appropriate dress.
  • An officer or past officer of the International Order of the Blue Gavel may wear formal dress to PICYA’s formal affairs.
 
Ladies’ Dress
  • A long dress, a cocktail dress or a formal pants suit is the preferred choice; however, the PICYA’s winter dress uniform or a business suit is also appropriate dress.
 
Insignia of Office
  • Worn above blazer emblem on left breast
  • If insignia of office is worn on shirt collar, the stars or other insignias should be placed parallel with the collar top, approximately one half inch (1/2”) from the top of the collar and approximately one half inch (1/2”) from the front of the collar edge.
Name Badges and Pins
  • Worn on the right lapel of blazer or the right side of shirt. Only ONE name badge should be worn at a time signifying organization you are representing.
  • No more than three (3) pins representing your organizations should be worn on the left lapel.
  • Staff Commodore’s Silver Star recipients are entitled to wear Silver Star Medallions at all PICYA functions, including PICYA delegate meetings.
 
Exceptions
  • The Commodore may designate specific dress for specific events.
